Industry Leaders Gather for Two-Day Event to Explore Cutting-Edge Practices in Risk Management 

Introduction 

KPC International, a leader in commissioning and qualification, proudly announces the resounding success of its first annual workshop on Risk-Based Commissioning and Qualification. Held at The Grand Hotel Malahide in Dublin, the event brought together senior stakeholders from Irish and international organisations, featuring eight manufacturing companies, alongside esteemed guests, Enterprise Ireland, and Minister Calleary, Minister for Trade Promotion, Digital Technologies, and Company Regulation.

Event Highlights 

The workshop featured distinguished speakers including Paschal Ryan, David Hunt CBE (DKH Projects) John Devlin (KPC) Gary Boyle (Parkinson’s Europe), David Costello (KPC), Hosam Aleem (Manchester University) and Paul Fitton (KPC) among others, who shared their expertise and insights on various aspects of risk-based commissioning and qualification.  

With Tuesday’s agenda strongly focused on the Application of the Risk Based Commissioning and Qualification Frameworks, including the role of digitalisation, Minister Calleary addressed the audience, highlighting the crucial role of key stakeholders in the medication development and delivery supply chain. He emphasized the importance of embracing and adopting technologies to enhance the speed and accuracy of medication delivery to patients. The Minister also outlined the importance of the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund to the industry, encouraging the MNCs in the room to engage in collaborative industrial research and experimental development with SMEs. The DTIF Call 7 will be launched later this year. 

The day concluded with a moving talk by Gary Boyle, VP of Parkinson’s Europe, underscoring the importance of patient-centricity in medical product development and delivery. 

Day two delved further into digitalisation topics, including discussions on digital transformation of the risk-based framework, paperless validation, artificial intelligence, as well as a note on sustainability. A panel session on the Potential Use of AI in RBQ Implementation featured data and AI experts Mick O’Gorman (Fretlogic) and Aidan Connolly (Idiro Analytics), and was expertly moderated by Newstalk’s Jess Kelly.
